[EN] Hint is a French chaotic fusion rock band hailing from Angers, formed in 1994. Drawing inspiration from alternative rock, noise, and experimental music, the group has crafted a distinctly avant-garde and iconoclastic body of work for its time. Their music skillfully blends industrial rhythms, dissonant guitars, wailing saxophones, and unsettling sound effects with other ethereal and cinematic atmospheres, occasionally infused with touches of traditional music.

In live performances, the band takes on a duo configuration, playing against the backdrop of video projections. The two members, Arnaud Fournier (guitar, saxophone, trumpet, flute, and vocals) and Hervé Thomas (bass, guitar, and vocals), are accomplished multi-instrumentalists. Their meticulous sound collage work is enriched by the judicious use of samples. Hint frequently collaborates with the artists from Portobello Bones in Tours, sharing tours and musical projects. A 6-track live album was released in 1997, bringing together both groups and Ouled El Rai. The band also appears three times on Portobello Bones' album "Portobello Amigos," contributing covers of Guzzard, Unsane, and Distorted Pony. Additionally, Hint releases a split vinyl with the American band Unsane. After an eight-year hiatus, the group embarks on a tour in 2009 with Ez3kiel, sharing a mutual affinity for electronic music that is both dark and luminous.

Towards the culmination of their musical journey, Hint's latest album, "Rareties of two Centuries," is released on Atypeek Music. This collection brings together a range of ancient treasures unearthed by the duo, offering a captivating musical experience. Just when one thought they had explored everything, Hint surprises us with a second volume containing twelve impactful tracks, proving that musical gems are not scarce for them, and the element of surprise continues to astonish us.

[FR] Hint est un groupe français de fusion rock chaotique originaire d'Angers, formé en 1994. Puisant son inspiration dans le rock alternatif, la noise et la musique expérimentale, le groupe a su créer une œuvre résolument avant-gardiste et iconoclaste pour son époque. Leur musique allie habilement des rythmiques indus, des guitares dissonantes, des saxos hurlants, des bruitages angoissants, à d'autres ambiances aériennes et cinématographiques, parfois teintées d'incursions dans les musiques traditionnelles.

En concert, le groupe adopte une configuration en duo, se produisant devant des projections vidéo. Les deux membres, Arnaud Fournier (guitare, saxophone, trompette, flûte et voix) et Hervé Thomas (basse, guitare et voix), sont des multi-instrumentistes accomplis. Leur méticuleux travail de collage sonore est enrichi par l'utilisation judicieuse de samples. Hint collabore fréquemment avec les artistes tourangeaux de Portobello Bones, partageant des tournées et des projets musicaux, dont un live 6 titres paru en 1997 réunissant les deux groupes et Ouled El Rai. Le groupe apparaît également sur l'album Portobello Amigos de Portobello Bones, contribuant avec des reprises de Guzzard, Unsane et Distorted Pony. De plus, Hint sort un split vinyle avec le groupe américain Unsane. Après une pause de huit ans, le groupe entame en 2009 une tournée avec Ez3kiel, partageant une passion commune pour une électronique à la fois sombre et lumineuse.

À la fin de leur parcours musical, le dernier album de Hint, intitulé "Rareties of two Centuries", sort chez Atypeek Music. Cet opus regroupe une sélection de trésors anciens déterrés par la paire, offrant une expérience musicale captivante.
